Accreditation

High School Independent Study courses are approved by the Mississippi Commission on School Accreditation through the Mississippi State Department of Education. Each school must individually make the determination as to whether these correspondence courses will meet their own state's requirements for graduation. However, all of our core courses will meet the requirements for accreditation in other states.

Enrollment

  1. A student may enroll for High School Independent Study at any time during the year.
  2. A student should not enroll for more than two courses of one-half (1/2) unit each. Only one (1) unit may be earned through High School Independent Study and applied toward high school graduation in the state of Mississippi. However, changes in graduation requirements as noted in Bulletin 171 state that if the student is a graduating senior and has been advised by the school that to graduate he/she may complete two units by correspondence, the units will be accepted toward graduation.

  4. To enroll in a course offered by independent study, the student should fill out the application form very legibly, get appropriate signatures, and return it with the appropriate fees to the Division of Academic Outreach & Continuing Education.
